Alternate Route Downhill

That’s pretty steep!

You quickly go from the cliff to the path that leads downhill. It looks treacherous and is riddled with roots, rocks and pot-holes.

You find that someone left a round sled on this spot. You get in, grab hold of the white rope and push off. You fly down the hill at amazing speed. Just as you think that you have escaped certain capture you spot a path up ahead. A man in a black sweat suit pokes his head out and pulls on a rope.

You are suddenly caught in a net that has just sprung up. The man in the black sweat suit comes up to you. He is tall, white, has a few scars on his face with beady eyes that have seen a lot of violence.

“Tisk, tisk,” says the thug, “You should know better than to mettle in other people’s business.”

“If you’re going to kill me, hurry up about it!” you respond.

“Oh, well if you’re in that much of a hurry to die,” answers the thug, “Then I think I’ll refuse and simply let you hang out to dry.”

        “Really?” you ask.

If he leaves you up in this net, you might have a chance to cut your way free. However, you show too much optimism and it goes against his cruel instinks simply to leave you alone.

“I’ll leave you out to dry,” says the thug, “After you’re dead!”

You hear a muffled shot and blackness takes you. Before you lose consciousness, you hear the thug cry out in fear.

You wake up in a hospital bed. Your chest is bandaged but otherwise there are no other injuries.

“Well, our adventurer is finally awake,” says the chief detective as he comes in. “You had us in for a shock.”

      “What happened?” you ask.

“You were found just inside the woods of the State Park with a bad ricochet wound close to your heart. That sled of yours was made of tougher stuff than he thought; Next to you was the remains of your attempted killer. You don’t know what happened to him do you?”

      “Was he shot?” you ask.

“The bullet bounced off of it and hit him but it didn’t kill him. Let’s just say he met a grizzly end…the police are still investigating that area of the Park. We’ll contact you later today. Get some rest.”

The detective leaves the room. You relax until you realize that your hike is over. Bummer. Oh well. Perhaps you can go explore the Woods again when your wound is healed.

You have been spared getting shot by a ruthless thug in the woods. However, due to the wound and possible trauma caused by having a bullet ricochet off of a round snow sled held close to your chest, you have been put in a hospital and therefore have ended your Hike in the Park. But this does not have to be the end. Go back to the Previous Page.
